Vukovar ! In spite of !

It took 14 years to pass since bloody occupation of Vukovar from the side of Chetnic and JNA (Yugoslav national army), which was led by Slobodan Milosevic (for which among other things he was accused by ICTY), to uncover quite jumbled garbage, from all former Croatian governments, on heroes of Vukovar, those deceased or "missing" and those survived, and as President of City council of Vukovar, Nikola Toth Feniks, says, "those who went crazy" or by official medical terminology, became ill from PTSD, whose sacrifice was crucial for international recognition of Republic of Croatia.

More than 90 percent of viewers of this weeks' "Latinica", which was dealing with theme of Vukovar, answered affirmative on referendum question has it been able to help Vukovar. The same think also citizens with whom I these days talked on that theme – from taxi drivers to lecturers.

They were specially impressed by enclosure about phone conversations of commander of Operative group Vukovar-Vinkovci-Zupanja, Mile Dedakovic with deceased President of Croatia, Franjo Tudjman and Minister of Defense, Gojko Susak . Tudjman and Susak were convincing Dedakovic that they were doing all they could to help Vukovar, but he didn't let women and children to get away from town with humanitarian convoy.

Exactly because of truthfulness of those conversations, Mile Dedakovic was accused for being one of KOS man, he was tortured by men of Minister of Defense, Gojko Susak and Josip Perkovic, an assistant of Minister for security. State media, including Vjesnik of that time, they were writing pamphlets that Dedakovic's actions were high-treasons.

Present state secretary in ministry of foreign affairs and European integrations, Hidajet Biscevic, at that time as chief editor of Vjesnik, prohibited publishing of Dedakovic's interview after he was released from prison, so the conversation with him I had to publish in Slovenian Delo.

In spite of enclosure in show Latinica, which distressingly testifies about censorship over reports of Vukovar journalists and for the first time on HTV presents "Indictments" against Croatian political and military summit that they betrayed Vukovar, which was written by, and by side of invasive forces later brutaly killed, Sinisa Glavasevic, Jasna Babic, the journalist of Slobodna Dalmacija, claimed that it wasn't about censorship which was led by secret services, but about certain self-censorship, which grasped chiefs of media in Zagreb, scared by everything that happened.

Jasna Babic passed the whole guilt for humiliations which Vukovar heroes experienced from their own country on Josip Manolic, who as a President of Crisis headquarters of Croatia, was in front of Commission which was dealing with fall of Vukovar. The truth is that Josip Manolic recently in TV show Kontraplan of Dubravko Merlic, defended thesis of deceased Franjo Tudjman that accusations from that time which was said from mouths of Vukovar heroes, Dedakovic, Borkovic, Toth, Glavasevic..., that Vukovar has been sacrificed, matches with those which were spreaded by Belgrade propaganda, that Croatia fel with Vukovar.

However, the main responsibility for shuttings and humiliations which experienced spouses Toth, Dedakovic and Borkovic , goes on account of Gojko Susak and his assistant Josip Perkovic, which Jasna Babic deliberately conceales.

It is understandable to me that Manolic today doesn't touch Perkovic, scared that Josip Perkovic would start to talk about Manolic's negotiations with leaders of Serbian Republic, Radovan Karadzic and Nikola Koljevic, or about some unknown details about murder of Ante Paradzik.

It is understandable to me also that Dedakovic doesn't want to directly confront with participants in project Vukovar, which was led by deceased Gojko Susak, although the Minister of Defense in April 1992. still doubted was Dedakovic beaten by his SIS people or had a car accident, but undoubtly he oppsed to him that he shouldn't have been recording conversations with Tudjman and distribute it to public.

Although, Susak's actual inheritor, Berislav Roncevic, with his signature he made possible that war status is recognised to all members of 204. Vukovar brigade, and councelor for national security of President Mesic (who supported the initiative for that recognition even in 2003.) Sasa Perkovic, son of Josip Perkovic, whose closest associates Zoran Gacina, Nikola Kristo, Zoran Udiljak ...for four days in boiler room in building of Military police on Lascina, physically and psychically were breaking Mile Dedakovic Jastreb.

But, Jastreb these days for the first time after 14 years, in detail talked about his direct torturers and about absolute possibility to keep Vukovar in military sense, what was disabled by a command he got on 13th October 1991. to stop the action of breaking invasive ring near Marinci.

For the first time in TV show Latinica we had a chance to see reconstructed almost whole mosaic of decision Vukovar to be sacrificed so that humanitarian catastrofy contribute to international recognition of Croatia.

After statement of Mile Dedakovic Jastreb that the commander of Operative zone Osijek, Karl Gorinsek, gave a command to stop the action, it was released the statement of chief of GS (Main Headquarters) of ZNG (Assembly of national guard) AntonTus, that to him the command was given by President Tudjman, but he refused to obey, so Tudjman personally called lower ranking Gorinsek, so that small cubeencircle on Jastreb.

Tudjman's longtime Minister, Mate Granic declared that Lord Carrington insisted to stop the action and try with humanitarian convoy, but Hans Dietrich Genscher, Minister of foreign affairs of the country the most inclined to Croatia, said to deceased Tudjman that action had to be stopped  so Croatia wouldn't be accused for breaking of truce, and that humanitarian way would accelerate international recognition of Croatia, which was the mostly interceded by Germany.

To Hans Dietrich Genscher resolute influence on Tudjman to sacrifice Vukovar in military way because of recognition of Croatia, several years before publicly attributed another Tudjman's longtime Minister, Andrija  Hebrang. By that we encircle secondsmall cube of mosaic of sacrificing.

The third, and by me, still not enough investigated small cube, but maybe because of that crucial for actual political-judicial events, are relations of foreign and domestic secret services connected with questions of Homeland war 1991.

On trial to Tihomir Oreskovic, Mirko Norac and Stjepan Grandic for war crime over civilians of Gospic, mostly Serbs, Josip Manolic as a witness of charge, in function of formal chief of all Tudjman's secret services, declared that German secret service, but also German diplomacy ( Hans Dietrich Genscher) were opposing to Croatian leadership for tolerating of crimes in Gospic and convincing him that it would terribly slow down recognition of Croatia.

Namely, the last American ambassador in former Yugoslavia, Warren Zimmerman, already has sent official note to Croatian Prime Minister, Franjo Greguric, complaining that Gospic crime denies that Croatia is a victim in the war, and it is hard to expect that it would soon become internationaly recognised.

Franjo Greguric, although he personally knew some facts about Gospic crimes, come out in public with accusation that for crimes in Gospic are responsible HOS men of Dobroslav Paraga.

Paraga denies that, by first getting more complete list of missing Serbs in Gospic (about 60 names) and giving it on insight to domestic and international public. The text with Paraga's list in Slobodni tjednik signed Veceslav Kocijan.

Josip Manolic on trial in Rijeka for war crime in Gospic in 1991. personally addressed to first accused Tihomir Oreskovic :                                                                                                                                              - You Oreskovic, better keep your mouth shut! If there wasn't a Serbian crime in Vukovar, Croatia would never be recognised, because of what you have done in Gospic.

Jasna Babic in TV show Latinica said that it was a bit odd what President Tudjman and Minister of Defense Susak left Zagreb on 17th November 1991. when Croatian Government had a meeting about Vukovar. At the same time, she concealed that Tudjman and Susak were in Gospic. Tudjman was under strong physical protection because Milan Levar and Zdenko Ropac informed Zdravko Mustac, the chief of Manolic's informative office, that Oreskovic and Norac's men, including Stjepan Grandic, are planning to kill President. On trial in Rijeka could be heard testimony of Ante Karic , at that time commissioner of Government for Lika, that on that time was prevented assassination on Tudjman, but President only sharply reprimanded by finger Oreskovic, instead of let him be arrested at once. Fatima Skula (by her own recognition, a person for everything in Oreskovic's office in Gospic), declared publicly several times, but not on trial in Rijeka, that Tudjman threated to Oreskovic by finger and said to him literally:      - Oreskovic, Oreskovic...! You have gone too far and now stop it.

All that Jasna Babic doesn't want to touch because of her war reporting are left the most impressive interviews with Tihomir Oreskovic at the beginning of 90-ties in Globus, where she glorified him as a hero returned emigrant, armed with male courage, Lika's inventiveness, international education and excellent knowledge of languages, what was for Jasna Babic greatlly contributed to defense of Gospic.

Mirko Norac should be touched even less, because in 1998. she personally mediated that on Sinjska alka in 1998. guests of alka's duke Norac would be Jozo Rados, later Minister of Defense and Milan Bandic, actual Zagreb mayer.

For Nikola Kristo she doesn't want to repeat any more (as in book Blaskic Conspiracy) that he was beating Jastreb , because Kristo's crew put her in debt with some kinds of state secrets which she was publishing and she defended them from attacs that they contribute to death of Miro Baresic , participated in crime and war crime in SIS and Military police on Dalmatia area in 1991. and 1992., and in 1992. even on area of Derventa, Kupres and Herzegovina.

Josip Manolic and other witnesses, testified on trial for Gospic crime that Josip Perkovic instead of processing Tihomir Oreskovic, on persuasion of Stedul, to Tudjman and Susak, and by their command, the same person hired at his office in SIS, where the bearded intelectual from USA emigration, in 2000. got into prison.

Perkovic in Rijeka claimed that he as a assistant of Minister of Defense for security had no knowledgments that the accused ones have done any crime, and only strained through his mouth that from Nikola Stedul he heard that Tihomir Oreskovic in emigration worked for CIA.

On demand of Tihomir Oreskovic to the court was given on insight his files from UDBA. Contrary to his expectations that the file would show that UDBA thought of him as dangerous enemy, it turned out that Yugoslav secret service had him as their cooperator.

Jasna Babic shouldn't let herself in any case to reveal that Josip Perkovic was superior to Tihomir Oreskovic not only in '91. and '92. but in 80-ties when Perkovic was chief of II Departement of UDBA (for emigration) in Zagreb.

Branko Borkovic twice, in Jutarnji list and on Radio 101, confessed that he was questioned also by Josip Perkovic, assistant of Minister of Defense (what he knows about preparation of assassination on Tudjman from side of Vukovar people), that Perkovic's man named Ivan Ivankovic on fraud got him out of the meeting with Tus, after he finished in custody.

Although, Borkovic doesn't want to confront any more with Josip Perkovic, because he alone in 1992. accepted to, by command of Susak and Perkovic, lead Vukovar defenders in battles with JNA (Yugoslav national  army), with tenks on Kupres, where lots of those soldiers died.

Expressly, that Vukovar was sacrificed, in Latinica said Petar Janjic Tromblon , authentic fighter who alone destroyed 12 tenks on approches to sites of Vukovar defenders.

Tromblon said that he was a witness of retreating of police from Slavonski Brod from positions which was guarded as corn road from Nustar across Bogdanovci to Vukovar. He added that only a few enemy tenks was positioned in direction where the forces from Vinkovci should done break through from Vukovar. Finally, he testified that he and his fellow soldiers from Vukovar on Kupres battle field, where they were led by Borkovic, used to found pieces of weapons and  tools on which could be seen declaration that it was in purpose of defensing Vukovar.

That Croatia didn't count any  more on Vukovar, but more important was Herzegovina, except testimony of Petar Janjic Tromblon , could also be seen from appearance of Drazen Budisa, vicepresident of Government of democratic unity on meeting on 17th November 1991.:

DRAZEN BUDISA:"Mister President, since we have got the news that Vukovar is still defensing, I would repeat what we talked about last night. Two thousand of armed people we have in western Herzegovina, in Capljina. Our evaluations are that the army wouldn't attack Dubrovnik any more. Please, general, to think – if there is any time- about suggestion that those units be transported over in eastern Slavonia. As the for the informations available, those are fully equiped units." Franjo Greguric, The Government of democratic unity of Croatia

Jasna Babic doesn't want to enter in that part of Kupres story because in it also was Nikola Kristo, but two more men of Josip Perkovic: Zoran Udiljak and Milenko Filipovic. Udiljak died driving with Filipovic on Kupres in 1992.

Even if she wanted to deal with that theme more seriously, she would be prevented from that, because of present obligations that she fulfilling to Josip Perkovic, who is under German APB for cooperating in murder of emigrant Stjepan Djurekovic.

By that the connection and thesis of Ivan Bandic, Perkovic's spy, would fall in water, that for crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina are responsible only KOS men Ivica Rajic and emigrant Mladen Naletilic Tuta, that is, their patrons Dario Kordic and Mate Boban.

Because Josip Perkovic in 1992. in Bosnia and Herzegovina sent his men Tvrtko Pasalic, Nikola Kristo, namely and Tihomir Oreskovic, Zoran Udiljak, MilenkoFilipovic and participated in recruiting leading positions in SIS and Military police of HVO.

Anyway, Perkovic recruited and Ivica Primorac who one day before murder of commander of HOS, Blaz Kraljevic , left the position of his deputy and in Zagreb transfered all available documentation of HOS B&H, to be rewarded with the position in Herzegovina SIS, which was led by Ivo Lucic , and where had a job Ivan Bandic.

Catharsis with one partof Croatian citizens with whom I talk to about Vukovar contributed also the enclosure in Latinica about return of Vukovar pupils of elementary school from holidays in Dubrovnik, only several days before general aggression on the city. Even at that time chief of police Stipe Pole wondered how it could be decided about return of the children when he even before first attack in headquarters of police in Zagreb (to Minister Ivan Vekic sent six-hours reports about attacs of invaders in the town). At that time commissioner of Government for Vukovar, Marin Vidic Bili, said that he got the command from the Government in Zagreb, but he didn't agreed on it himself, because it was logic that defenders would fight strongly if they have somebody to protect (children), and with return of the children in town was denied Belgrade propaganda that in Vukovar are mostly Serbs. Second reason is absolutely absurde, because the Serbs who rebeled and participated in attacs on Vukovar, and some of them in later crimes, for  months earlier were transporting whole their families to Serbia (Vojvodina).

First reason, about strengthening of morals dropped down Nikola Toth Feniks by statement that the responsibles on Croatian side for not givin support to defense even earlier knew that the town would end in blood.

By actual informations, at that time President of Government, Zdravko Tomac in great part participated in decision to return children from the holidays. Where ho get the right today to talk about Vukovar victims, only he knows that.

And by stenogram of meeting of Greguric's Government from 17th November 1991., Zdravko Tomac was one of initiators to censore not only Sinisa Glavasevic and his colleagues from Vukovar, but also other journalists who send reports from the battle field:

ZDRAVKO TOMAC:"I think now is the chance for Minister for informing, as far as Vukovar is concerned and military situation, bring in censorship till final decision. (entering of Minister for informing: Sorry, I didn't hear.) To bring in censorship as far as reports from battle field is concerned, from Vukovar, from Vinkovci. Secondly, to military headquarters Prepare information about whole military situation on that area. (Interruption:Correct.) And then in the evening when we have everything, make a report, report of Government about that situation. It is dangerous and impermissibly if the panic accures. Situation is so difficult for Croatia that military headquarters must impose censorship on radio and TV, and in general about those reports and about truce, military headquarters must show whole military situation, and not to let to every little journalist to write as he like. The journalist doesn't give reports, but his morals views, was it to be like this or like that." Franjo Greguric, The Government of Democratic Unity of Croatia
